The Young Cyclist's Companion

$0.00

An introduction to the nuts and bolts of cycling for young people.

There is no better feeling than hopping on your bike and heading for the hills. But how much do you really know about your bike and how can you get even more out of it?

Aimed at kids ages 7-12, who are already proficient cyclists, this book breaks down all the essentials: How to choose a bike, how to maintain it, how to improve your technique and how to take your cycling ambitions to the next level with group rides. Clear, accessible text by Peter Drinkell is complimented by humour-filled illustration by Thomas Slater and evocative photography. Inspirational quotes and fascinating facts from the pro-cycling world are peppered throughout.

With cycling on a new, post-pandemic high, ever more young people have been bitten by the cycling bug. This book tells them everything they needed to know about bikes but were too afraid to ask.

Peter Drinkell is a photographer, writer and cycling obsessive. He is the author of The Bike Owner’s Handbook (Cicada, 2013), The Road Cyclist’s Com- panion (Cicada, 2015), and the photographer of Great Cycling Climbs of the Alps (Thames and Hudson, 2019).

Thomas Slater is a London-based illustrator and equally obsessive cyclist. His work has featured in The New York Times, Die Zeit, and Vice. This is his first book.
